Symphenia

The Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies organised an Inter School cultural fest on 24th October 2013. Two bands of our school participated in the War of Bands. The band` Illicit Grunge’ consisting of Eisha Hussain of class XII-A, Utkarsh Kumar Singh of XII-E and Raymond Jacob of X-A secured the First position and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.6000.The band` Dark Horse’ consisting of Abhishek Kumar and Raymond Jacob of X-A secured the second position. It was a proud day for both the students and the school.

Our Land, Our Heritage

Primary School

Heritage Day observed on 18th April’2013 to develop awareness and highlight the importance of monuments and the need to protect and preserve them.

  1. Classes I, II and III made different monuments of India using clay.
  2. Classes IV and V showcased their creativity by making collages of different monuments of our country.

Earth Day was observed on 22nd April’2013. A special assembly was conducted to mark the importance of the day, to create awareness about the earth’s resources and the need to conserve them. The ill effects of environmental pollution and the ways to reduce it were also spoken about. Various activities were held during the day to develop sensitivity towards the environment.

  1. Classes I to V – Nature Walk (Walk around the school garden
  2. Classes I,II & III – Paper Bag Making (using newspapers, old chart papers, calendars etc
  3. Classes IV & V – Collage Making – “Say No To Plastic”



On 25 April’2013 an Interclass Show and Tell presentation was conducted for classes IV & V on “Our Heritage” in which the students prepared Power-point presentations on the monuments of India.

Model Making competition for classes IV & V was held on 2 May’2013 conservation of forests, wildlife, water resources and maintenance and preservation of monuments.

An Exhibition was organized on 9 May’2013 by classes III, IV and V (Inter-class) to depict the cultural heritage of Indian states and give us a glimpse of the social and cultural life of the people.

Senior School

The following activities were conducted in the months of April and May by the Social Science Department :

  1. Bulletin –Board Display Competition for classes VI-XII.

  2. VI- Conservation of wild Life with special focus on any one National park VIB &C
    VII- Mughal Architecture with special focus on any one monument in Delhi or Agra VIID
    VIII- Women leaders of the national movement with special focus on any two Women leaders VIIIC
    IX-Topography of India with focus on the relief features of India IX D
    X-Sectors of the Indian Economy XB &D
    XI- Any one of the world heritage sites in India –Natural or Cultural XIC

  3. Special Assemblies – A Special assembly was conducted on 18th April, World Heritage Day. The students of the Heritage club, VIRASAT, highlighted the importance of the conservation of heritage and presented a skit on the forts of India.

  4. Mr Aviroop Majumdar , an eminent film maker, spoke to the students about the finer nuances of documentary film making . This was followed by the screening of a documentary celebrating 100 years of Delhi as the capital of India, called Delhi Diary, for the students of class IX.



    On the occasion of Earth Day, 22nd April, a special assembly was conducted showcasing the need to protect, preserve and respect mother Earth.



    Assemblies highlighting the importance of Heritage, Conservation of Water and Wildlife were also conducted over the month.


  5. Inter-House Competitions
A Puppet - making competition called ‘Jharokha’ was organised for classes VI-VIII on the 9th and 10th of May. The competition proceeded in two stages – Puppet making followed by a Presentation on the puppet. The first position was jointly bagged by Ashoka and Tagorehouse

Dharohar - a Social Science Quiz Competition was held on the 3rd of May. The quiz consisted of various rounds on History, Politics, Current affairs etc.Gandhi House bagged the first position followed by Akbar house.

July- Maths Month

The month of July was observed as Maths Month. Various activities were conducted throughout the month to make learning more enjoyable and fun.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

An Inter-House Maths Quiz was conducted on 11.7.13. There were six participants in each team from Classes III-V. Students showed their calculating skills by calculating and answering the questions in less than a minute. There were six rounds conducted in the Quiz. The Rapid-Fire round changed the course of action and Tagore House took a lead and bagged the 1st position. Ashoka House came 2nd whereas there was a tie for the 3rd position between Gandhi and Akbar House.

Model making Competition , using 3-D shapes was conducted on 25.7.13. This Maths activity involved children making different shapes using clay, waste material and decorative material. Students of Class II made colourful toys using clay and students of Class III made the various means of transport. Bandhanwars, traditional Rajasthani decorations used to brighten up the entrance of a house, were made by the students of Class IV. Students of Class V made attractive and vibrant wall hangings using waste material and other decorative material.

Students enjoyed making models using 3-D shapes and were able to benefit from the activity as they learnt more about shapes and 3-D figures.

30th APRIL- 4th MAY 2012: “Hum Kishore Festival” was organized by Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust. Our students participated I various events.

Roopal Kalra XII D got first prize in Poster Making Competition “ARTIST OHO” .She was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5000 and a rolling trophy.

Akhmeen XI A got second prize in dance competition.She was awarded with a certificate and a medal.
