The Social Science Department conducted a Mapathon activity for students of Classes VI to VIII on 17 April 2026 as part of the Social Science Week. The primary objective of the activity was to enhance students’ knowledge of Geography and map-reading skills. The event was thoughtfully designed as a fun and competitive learning experience centred around the theme, “Where in the World?”
The Mapathon featured a series of meticulously designed rounds that assessed students’ understanding of both Indian and world Geography. These included identification of countries and states, recognition of significant physical features, and analytical true/false questions. Through active participation, students demonstrated their ability to identify rivers, mountain ranges, deserts, capitals, and continents, thereby reinforcing their conceptual clarity and spatial awareness.
A distinctive component of the activity was the introduction to toposheets, wherein students gained insight into their significance, structural elements, and practical applications in real- world contexts such as urban planning and geographical analysis. This segment effectively bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and its applied utility.
The highlight of the event was the Bonus Round, which required participants to accurately mark key locations on maps of India and the world within a stipulated time. This round effectively tested their speed, accuracy, and familiarity with maps.
Overall, the activity was highly successful, marked by enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from students. The activity not only enriched their map-reading skills but also cultivated critical thinking and collaborative learning.
As part of the Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign initiated by the Delhi Police, the school organized a Poster Making Competition on 20 April 2026 for students of Classes VI to XII. The activity was conducted on the theme “Say No to Tobacco/Drug Abuse,” with the objective of sensitizing students to the harmful consequences of substance abuse and encouraging them to advocate for a healthier lifestyle.
The competition witnessed the active participation of approximately 800 students and was conducted under the guidance and supervision of class teachers. The students expressed their understanding and perspectives through creatively designed posters that effectively depicted the adverse effects of tobacco and drug abuse. The posters encouraged dialogue within the school community and reinforced the importance of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The enthusiastic participation reflected a strong sense of responsibility among students towards promoting awareness and making informed choices.
