Twelve Indian Music students of the school have the proud privilege of participating in the Musical Tribute to Gandhiji, a special programme at Gandhi Smriti, Tees January Marg, on 2nd October 2023.

They will be performing before an august gathering of dignitaries including the President, Vice President and the Prime Minister of India.

Sai Krishnan Iyer, of Class VIII D ,has been accorded the special distinction of playing the flute along with the master musicians and leading the musical programme at Gandhi Smriti.

RIA SINGH - CREATIVE WRITER AND AUTHOR


Three literary pieces (attached below) by Ria Singh Jadon, Class IX C, featured in the Times of India, Students’ Edition recently. Ria is a published author and poet. Her novel ‘Ivy’ and collection of poems, ‘Sunlight and Shadow’, have received critical praise. We celebrate Ria’s achievements and wish her well in her creative endeavours.

BLESSING CEREMONY FOR RENOVATED INFRASTRUCTURE


The blessing and dedication ceremony for the newly constructed Playpen, the Basketball-cum-Handball Court and the renovated Classrooms for Std. VII and VIII, along with two newly purchased buses, was held on 30th June 2023 in the presence of Mrs Mary George, President, LCBM, Mr. Thomas T. Roy, Secretary-Treasurer of LCBM, Mrs. D. A. Tressler, Chairperson & Director of Somerville Schools, Mr Abraham Mathew, Manager, Somerville Schools, Principal, Ms Esther Mani and Vice Principal, Dr Pratima Margaret Lall.

EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO THE NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE


The students of Class V visited the National Science Centre on Saturday, the 29th April, 2023 along with their Science teachers. It is one of the largest science centers in Asia and is spread across four sprawling floors with eight galleries and several other sections for all age groups showing the wonders of science and technology.

The students were given a tour of its different galleries which was a great learning experience for them. They visited the Information Revolution Gallery, the Human Biology Gallery, the Sardar Patel Gallery, Pre-Historic Gallery and the Hall of Nuclear Power.

The students also enjoyed different educational shows and movies. The Holographic Movie explained the different systems of our body while the Blue Planet- Science on Sphere Show showcased planetary and mystical galaxies and the universe which enthralled the students. The session in the science activity room was enjoyed the most by the students as many activities were based on simple logic and principles which were demonstrated and explained.

The educational trip was an enriching and exciting experience for the students of Class V. It helped them to explore, gain hands-on-knowledge and experience the many dimensions of science and the impact it has on our lives.

The students had a special assembly in which they shared their experience and knowledge they had acquired during the visit and demonstrated some science facts they had learnt at the 3D show they attended.
